Rocks Carved By Nature |

This is fascinating to me...the idea that a rock can be formed, exposed to the elements for ages, and gradually over time, take on the shapes of things found in nature. This week I have been really focusing on these very special and unique "canvases" for painting. I have saved some over the winter because I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to do with them. Three of these rocks have a large main portion, with a bulbous, protruding section...which turns out to be perfect for ladybugs. I like to paint the ladybug on a leaf or leaves, giving the impression of two separate objects on one stone. Here's a picture of one so you get the idea. The cool thing about these "compound" rocks is that they come in such varied sizes. I have one that weighs an ounce, and one that is 7.5 lbs! I hope that if you're a rock painter, you won't be passing these stones up when you find them. It may be a challenge at first, but you'll soon find them easier to design and a very fun challenge to paint. As long as the surface isn't too rough or pitted, because that will frustrate you. And we don't want that! We want you to have fun with your rock painting. Now go paint, Rock Painter! You're burnin' daylight! And that's the best time to paint. Peace, Lin http://www.lanrocks.biz
