First off, sorry I've been away so long. Here's a review, and brace yourself...it's not kind.
Captures. It's an SEO company. That means they optimize your website so that it's easier for customers to find you on the web.
I was solicited by Captures in December of 2007. A very "nice" guy called me, said he could make my "awesome" online store very findable for a targeted audience, and it's something that needs to be done if you want your new business to succeed and there were lots of compliments on my art, and there were lots of scary statistics about how many new businesses fail because of little or no Search Engine Optimization.
Blah, blah, blah. I fell for every last crappy bit of it, I'm ashamed to tell you. I was so excited to be starting my business that I contracted with the first person to solicit for my SEO. Yes, I was that stupid.
It cost me over $1600. What they did not mention was that I was under contract for 6 months from my start date and that after 3 months they would start charging my account $99 per month for "maintenance" and for search engine submissions each month. Yup...$99 per month to press a damn button. They never told me that part until I noticed it on my credit card statement, and they said I agreed to it. I already pay a WONDERFUL company called Engineseeker to do my monthly submissions, and they do about 250 per month, send me a confirmation e-mail, submit my site, my store, AND my blog all for $4.95 per month. Not each, TOTAL. It's fabulous, and I mean it. No sarcasm...if you contact Engineseeker, they'll set you up good, and do what they say, and save you lots of money.
Oh, and by the way, when Engineseeker's guy asked me what Captures charged me for my SEO, they said I was WAY overcharged, and they could have given me much more SEO at a much lower cost. Since  Captures only optimized my home page, I still need SEO and cannot afford it yet. So...please take my advice and stay away from Captures. They're  very unkind to clients who voice a legitimate complaint. I fully intend to take my business elsewhere. I am embarassed that they "got" me, but I'm smarter now, and so are you.
Engineseeker is a WAY better company to deal with. They have no idea that I am writing this. I hope you use their services and that you like them as much as I do! Here's how to get to them:   http://www.engineseeker.com
I tried to get out of my contract, but Captures won't let me do that until June 11, 2008. It's circled in red on my huge kitchen calendar. I can't wait to dump their deceitful, nasty, greedy ass. When I told their customer service guy that I was a very talkative girl, and that I would review them on my blog, he asked if I was threatening him! No, I wasn't threatening him...I was promising him. So here it is for the world to see.
Captures bad. Engineseeker good. That's all you need to know! Peace, Lin  http://www.lanrocks.biz
