LanRocks at Buffalo Indie Market

Yesterday was my first time as an artist vendor at the Buffalo Indie Market at the Pearl Street Grill. All I can say is Wow! If you haven't been to this event, you've simply gotta put it on your calendar and go! There are assorted artist vendors in various mediums to appeal to every taste. With the holidays coming, it's a perfect way to do a lot of... Read More

LanRocks Has Been Busy!

It's been a very long while since I've been on the blog...my apologies. But LanRocks has been working hard on lots of new ideas!
I did a few classes at the awesomely awesome Roycroft Campus this past July. Lots of fresh, new rock painters are now out there doin' their thing. Rock On!
I did my first out of town craft show in Hammondsport NY on August... Read More

Togay I Fired Captures.com !

The day is finally here. June 11 2008. Also known as the day I get to dump the slimy, greedy, dishonest crapstorm of a company known as Captures.com.
Halle-friggin'-leuiah.
It's been a very long wait, because I unknowingly entered into a faulty 6-month contract , where they gave me piss-poor SEO for my (huge amount of ill-spent) money. Please beware,... Read More

Water Features Made Easy!

I am a rock artist, and I am always looking for new ways for my clients to showcase their stone art. A large percentage of my pieces are used in a garden setting. I like to think of them as fountain accents...yard jewelry. That sort of thing. well, if you have a Borders store (bookstore) near you, go on over to their bargain books section and pick... Read More

More On Engineseeker

Yesterday's review of Captures (ought to be called Pirates) had me on my high horse for a while. I sent an e-mail to the customer service people at Engineseeker to let them know I had, as a satisfied customer, mentioned them on my blog, and perhaps they'd like to know what was said. I received the nicest e-mail back from one of their guys. He nwas... Read More

Beware Of Captures!

First off, sorry I've been away so long. Here's a review, and brace yourself...it's not kind.
Captures. It's an SEO company. That means they optimize your website so that it's easier for customers to find you on the web.
I was solicited by Captures in December of 2007. A very "nice" guy called me, said he could make my "awesome"... Read More

Mayor Crook's Simpsonized Portrait

I showed you the concept sketch earlier. This is the actual painting on stone. I actually like it, but he looks a little...insane. I still have trouble carrying over the sketch to the painting. I don't know why. But sometimes it just happens that way. I love to "Simpsonize" people, and I try to do a couple people each week. If you see... Read More

Chris Griffin

Okay, this is a brief art lesson. If you want to start painting characters, this character is a great one to start with. First, you can sketch the image onto a clean ( I mean really scrubbed with antibiotic soap...don't want you getting sick from microbes if we can help it!) dry rock.
I always recomment using a white colored pencil. Just snag one... Read More

Cleveland Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame...Awesome!

Today I went on a trip to the Cleveland R & R Hall Of Fame, along with the Cleveland Science Museum, and lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe. It was an awesome day. Our middle school chorus and orchestra performed at the RRHOF and it was really nice. I haven't been to Cleveland in over a decade. The city is very beautiful with lots of exciting... Read More

Rocks Carved By Nature

This is fascinating to me...the idea that a rock can be formed, exposed to the elements for ages, and gradually over time, take on the shapes of things found in nature. This week I have been really focusing on these very special and unique "canvases" for painting. I have saved some over the winter because I wasn't exactly sure what I was... Read More

Mental Retardation In Dogs

This is my dog, June. She is a dachshund. I am not a dog snob, but June is a pedigreed dachshund from the top breeder of Standard Red Dachshunds in my part of the US. She was not inexpensive.
June is mentally retarded. And I say this with the utmost respect and sincerity. She truly is and I'll tell you all about it.
When june was born, six years ago,... Read More

Bleeding Gums Murphy

I love Bleeding Gums Murphy. Well, I love all the Simpsons Characters, but my son spent several years playing saxophone with the school band, and Bleeding Gums is sax-playing Lisa Simpson's hero.
There is a scene where he appears to Lisa in the clouds, and I have done an acrylic painting on canvas of my interpretation of that fabulous scene. I have... Read More

It's Almost Pool Time

I have been studying pools all winter. It's a weird thing I obsess over. I am constantly rubbernecking to see people's pools in their back yards. To me, a pool in a thing of exquisite beauty. Something that is a perfect luxury, and a pretty awesome example of the American Dream. Pool ownership has been a lifelong dream of mine. Some of my best... Read More

Wow Cow Frozen Dessert

My son had a jazz concert this week, and it's kind of a tradition around here that all the kids go out for ice cream. There's a place in our town where everyone goes. It's not in a super convenient location, but that's okay because their ice cream is so good, most people would walk barefoot on hot pavement for perhaps two miles or so to get some of... Read More

Fake Lottery Winnings

I keep getting these stupid announcement e-mails letting me know that I have one a lottery in Europe, one in Asia, several in South America...the list goes on and on. Today's big fat fake message came from a "Senator David Mark", and he claims there's 6.8 million dollars coming my way.
Oh, come on.
These stupid off-shore scams have got to... Read More

IAM Peter Griffin

I had to post this painting I did of Peter Griffin wearing an International Association Of Machinists shirt. It's an overt expression of solidarity for the Union Workers who support the UAW's strike on American Axle. And that includes the IAM. http://www.lanrocks.biz

Searchmarketing LLC

I can't say enough good stuff about the company that publishes my blog. I never expected the kind of diligent service they provide. There's one guy assigned to me. It's his job to contact me about my blog...he asks how it's going, if I have any questions, tells me my readership numbers, how long visitors linger, and how many articles they read on... Read More
